Traditionally, the coronal brow lift was a surgical method used to lift brows. In this procedure, an incision was made in the hairline, and the forehead was pulled backward to achieve brow elevation. However, modern advancements have introduced the keyhole surgery, also known as the endoscopic brow lift. This technique minimizes scarring, or in some cases eliminates it entirely, ensuring natural and beautiful results. The endoscopic brow lift provides a youthful lift to the brows while offering the advantage of reduced scarring and a more aesthetically pleasing outcome.
By employing anti-wrinkle injections, we can strategically relax specific muscles around the eyes, promoting an overall lift in the eyebrows. Particularly, the “orbicularis oculi” muscle surrounding the eye tends to hold the eyebrows down. Through precise injections of anti-wrinkle solutions into these muscles, we can release the eyebrows from the downward pull, allowing the forehead muscles (frontalis muscle) to lift the eyebrows without any antagonistic forces. This targeted approach can result in a subtle yet impactful change of a few millimeters in eyebrow height.
An alternative method for eyebrow lifting involves injecting dermal fillers beneath the eyebrows to provide support and lift. Typically, 1/2 to 1 injection of a filler product is sufficient for this area. This not only supports the eyebrows but also softens the bony orbital rim around them, contributing to a softer and more youthful appearance. As aging progresses, the eyebrow area may exhibit a bony, skeletal appearance. Placing fillers on the bony rim helps soften this area, reducing any visible signs of the underlying skull.
